I’ve never really considered myself much of an artist, but I definitely consider myself an emotional person.
I’m the type who wears their emotions on their sleeves and apparently, I wear them all over my artwork too.
I only started painting a couple of years ago. I’m more of a singer and musician, but I needed to pick a major that I could complete in the two years left at Auburn that I had.
I feel like this painting may depict a lot of college kids’ life (probably a lot of undeclared majors at least). You’re halfway between being a kid and being an adult and no one you want to take you seriously even hears you talking and those who shouldn’t ask you for that much responsibility yet almost insist upon it.
It can feel like you’re drowning, enveloped in the waves as the current takes you away from your life before, when all you had to worry about was what time is dinner so you could stay outside and play with your friends a little longer.
Right in front of you are only giant waves that seem impossible to overcome, but if you can hold your head above water, you can see a horizon not so far off in the distance.
The journey of college and young adult life is vast and open, remember to embrace the moments and to never forget that there will always be someone waving at you from shore.
